A Project for the Summer

summer startPrimary Class had a great week working on projects in class, and taking full advantage of the beautiful weather outside.

Today we released our newts so that they too could enjoy the beautiful summer weather.

Thank you parents for sharing your amazing kids with us this year. We hope that you all have a safe fun summer, and play outside as much as you can!

Here is a fun project idea to jump-start your summer.

Mold A Bouncy Ball-

Food Coloring

Glass Jar

White Glue

Step 1: Mix 1/2 tsp of borax with 2 tbsp of warm water (stir to dissolve the borax)

Step 2: Pour 1 tbsp of white glue into a glass jar and then add 1 tbsp of cornstarch to the glue

Step 3: Measure and add 1/2 tbsp of the borax solution to the jar of cornstarch-glue

Step 4: Add a few drops of food coloring and wait 15 seconds, and then stir all together

Step 5: Knead on a clean tabletop and roll into a ball

*What is this magical borax stuff, anyway? It’s a mineral used in makeup and soap. It’s also used in bug-repellant, so store the ball in a plastic bag when you’re done, then wash your hands. Whatever you do, don’t eat it!
