Five Acre Friday: Music, Art and Sound Waves!

October 2, 2026

🌿 From Rosie and Emily

The music room has been hopping the last few weeks as we readied for our 2-6th grade and Sound Waves concert at the Dungeness River Festival. A fun time was had by all, and we pounded out the tunes amidst the rainiest weather I have ever conducted in, in the 18 years I have been taking kids outside to perform.

Thanks to all the parents who helped with the marimbas! - Teacher Rosie

We have been spending time on Art as well.

Some fun bilateral art drawings in Explorer Class, bubble names and Initials in Adventure, and pattern turtles in Discovery. Other fun includes dancing, learning about patterns, and listening to sounds!

Discovery students have been working hard in fiber arts class! They are working on increasing their dexterity through knot tying.

These no-sew lions were frustrating for students at first (tying fleece is much more difficult than tying laces!) however, through conversations about patience and persistence, we all got through it:)

Students were very proud of their creations!!!
