🌿 Building Community in Primary
We are off to a great start to the new school year in the Primary Class.
Our first weeks are filled with teachers and children focused on building trusting and secure relationships. For many of our children this is their first experience in a classroom setting and being away from their families for most of the day. We build our classroom community through respect, patience, and supporting with care each child’s individual needs. It’s a big job!
We set up our environment to foster curiosity, independence, and most importantly play. There has been a huge amount of energy coming from the children since the beginning of the year. They are busy all day. We also navigate conflicts, support self regulation and communication between children. This practice helps them build confidence and social skills.
We are looking forward to a wonderful school year ahead with these amazing little humans!

We may not always be perfectly aligned or fit together neatly, but our unique strengths and differences come together to create the vibrant community that makes Five Acre School so special! This fall, students and staff have been sharing what they love about Five Acre through words and drawings. Their creations will be on display at our Community Soup Social on October 16, in the main hallway!
