This week in Adventure class we went on a field trip to the Dungeness dyke area and looked at salmon with Keith Denton. We also finished up our "All About Me" posters this week. They are so excited to have completed their first project of the year.

Music & Art with Rosie
We are off to a great start in the Music and Art Room! Our first weeks in Art finds us exploring lines, shapes and patterns.
Discovery found them in the shapes in the room, then made shapes with their bodies and found patterns on their clothes.
The elementary students first art pieces range from simple line drawings in Discovery, patterned initials in Adventure, to radially symmetric name-art in Explorer. Next comes color!
Primary music is a Joy. We jump and dance and sing, tell stories and play instruments.
Discovery Music includes finding our singing voices, simple songs, keeping time to the beat, playing instruments, fun musical games, dancing and doing movement.
Music room time finds Adventure, Explorer, and Sound Waves busy with marimbas as we have our first concert just 3 1/2 weeks into the school year! Five Acre School has been performing at the Dungeness River Festival for around 20 years. It is a favorite (and hectic) way to start off our musical year! The concerts are next Friday the 26th at 10 am and 12 pm at the River Center.
