Discovery Class - working in community!
Discovery Class
Discovery started off the year by learning about how to work together as part of a community.
We studied the community of a nurse log – the ways creatures and plants help each other and how trees communicate through their roots. We worked together to make a classroom nurse log. On Hike, the kids found a real nurse log!
We also learned about how to fill buckets. We all have an invisible bucket—anytime we are kind to someone, or someone is kind to us, it adds a drop in our bucket! We are working together to fill up our classroom bucket through acts of kindness.
The kids had great ideas about all the ways we can be kind to each other and to our school:
- “Helping someone on the monkey bars!”
- “Using listening ears!”
- “Getting an ice pack when someone gets hurt!”
- “Cleaning trash off the floor!”
- “Putting books away!”
We look forward to all the ways our Discovery community and school community will grow and strengthen over the school year!
