December Art & Music
Music & Art with Rosie
Cultural Arts with Audra
In Cultural Arts, we are studying arts and culture from around the world. Each month(ish) we spend time visiting different countries, and learning about the culture through music and art.
In September we learned about Zimbabwe.
We learned about Shona Culture, sang welcome songs in the language Shona, read fables from Zimbabwe and drew illustrations for the story! Explorer learned about instruments from Zimbabwe and played the percussion parts to our welcome song Nika Ina Vene
In October we learned about Mexico!
We celebrated through music by learning the traditional dance to La Raspa, you may recognize the music and dance as the Mexican Hat Dance! We also sang the song De Colores in Spanish singing about all the beautiful colors in spring.
We learned about art culture in Mexico by focusing on Frida Kahlo. We learned about her life and her art! After studying her style we created our own self portraits in the style of Frida’s self portraits.
