We are a community of Learners!
First Week of School

I am so excited for the 31st year of Five Acre School! The first week of school is always full of excitement, new beginnings, and a bit of nervous energy—for students, families, and teachers.
Once again our classrooms and playgrounds are filled with laughter, curiosity, and the buzz of young minds learning. Students engaged in community-building activities to help get to know each other and then they jumped into hands-on projects and activities.
Over the summer, teachers and staff spend time getting ready for the upcoming school year. The staff meet each year at the end of summer for a “Staff Retreat.” We spend time with each other, reflect on why we do what we do and dive deeper into big ideas within our Child Centered Curriculum. Check out our posters in the hallway for a quick look at this year’s conversations.
The first couple of weeks set a strong foundation for the year ahead—one that is full of inquiry, creativity, and connection —we can’t wait to see all the amazing things we will accomplish!
